Diversity in leadership…and in coffee |Welcome to a new friend: kalie gladwin

Leading Clean

Aiming to lead with natural ingredients, no hidden additives and ethically sourced actions. Fueled by coffee.

About Leading Clean

I believe people matter, everyone leads someone, and all roads lead to coffee.

We’re leading self or others. Leading in an office, a construction site, a playground, a school, a home, a sports field, a university, a pub, a place of worship, a café.

Think of this as a café. All are welcome. It’s a place to discuss and debate, to share knowledge and build connections.

Like eating clean, leading clean is about finding ways to nourish and build health in how we lead, whatever our situation. It’s about learning together. It’s about adding value to the communities in which we live.

I’ve been playing with leading and following for 15 years; sometimes I’m pretty good at it. Sometimes I’m not. Either way I always learn useful things.

Except how to tell jokes well. I’ve never learnt how to do that.

Feel free to drop in anytime.

Cheers, Kalie

Good coffee and leading well matter to me.

I made two short blacks this morning. My husband forgot to drink his.

I’m a committed Coffee-the-experience person. When I’m drinking coffee, that’s my whole world. I don’t work and drink coffee. I don’t watch TV and drink coffee. I sit. I drink. I may converse and engage with people while experiencing my coffee, but I don’t do anything else. Forgetting to drink coffee is not an option.

I digress, and this was going to be a short post.

SO…he forgot to drink his coffee. I muttered under my breath at the injustice of another person not appreciating Coffee-the-experience and he said, ‘Keep it; I’ll make an iced coffee later.’

An Iced Coffee? With my Perfect Short Black? An Iced Coffee?

Once I stopped gaping at the absurdity of his idea and stepped off my caffeine soap box, I remembered that coffee-the-experience is different for everyone. Coffee – like leadership – is impacted by the quality of the ingredients, but how it is developed and how it is experienced varies.

I love that about leadership. I can learn to accept that about coffee.

In time.

Loving Life, Wine, Art, Photography and Golf in South West France | Welcome to a new friend: redstuffdan

Loving Life, Wine, Art, Photography and Golf in South West France

Redstuffdan is a 61 year old shy and retiring ex civil servant who lives quietly in the Aquitaine countryside with his beautiful French wife of 42 years.

His art, like his photography, borders on the naïve and was provoked as a complimentary activity to his recovery from illness. Much of the work is experimental and would best be described, by Dan himself, as an expression of a child let loose in the sweetshop of digital photography and acrylic paints.

His current obsessions are mirrored images and the beauty of nature with a healthy dash of golf and wine in equal parts.

We hope you get as much pleasure from his work as Dan does in producing it

I think l’ve been Word Pressganged – No, l’m sure l’ve been Word Pressganged. One minute l was securely sailing along in my own little world without too many cares or worries – dabbling with brush, crayon and camera for my own gratutitous pleasure – Then suddenly, bang, the WordPress Gang get in my head and hijack untold hours of my life that are now dedicated to producing not only one blog but three. One dedicated to life in France, CORKS&WALKS, for the website Angloinfo, this one, which is giving me the greatest pleasure and the third where l am attempting to write, with some difficulty, a piece of modern crime fiction/fantasy.

I do not remember the exact moment, or circumstances in which l was Shanghaied by them but l know my life is not the same. I am addicted to my little Canon camera and iPhone and look at everything as though through a lens seeking the perfectly framed photo, l listen more intently to others and read, with an insatiable appetite, about art, literature, the human condition and my grand passions wine, golf and France..

Although l sense l have arrived in this place against my will l know l am really enjoying the experience and perhaps being Word Press-ganged is not such a bad thing after all.

(All the photographs, artwork, other images and text in this blog are copyright and cannot be reproduced without my written permission – You never know, if you ask, l might even say yes)

Monsoon Showers welcome to a new friend: Cinthya Anand

Life is once, forever.

I like the sounds of the morning; the birds chirping, the leaves rustling in the breeze, the fishmonger crying “meene!”

I like taking long walks.

I like green groves and lakes and butterflies.

I like chocolates and ice creams and anything remotely sweet.

I like arranging and rearranging the books on my shelf.

I like taking a new road and not worrying where I’m going.

I like living in my private dream world.

I am very fussy about grammar. When I use words the wrong way, though, it’s called poetic license.

I like the wind blowing in my face. I like getting drenched in the rain.

I like making funny faces at kids.

Most of all, I like finding myself in moments like these.

The Indian Chural Road

There used to be a large white signboard in the manufacturing plant where I worked a few years ago. It stood right outside the R & D Centre, and proudly read: INDIAN CHURAL ROAD. No one knew what it was doing in the company. It just existed, by some weird quirk of fate, an amusing interlude to the dreary business of work. In the wrong place at the wrong time.

Exactly like me.

I remember the day I realized this wasn’t my cup of tea. It was the first month after joining and we were undergoing in-plant training. Things were pretty interesting in the beginning, what with getting to see how the assembly line worked and all.

One day our trainer asked us if we wanted to see the MX108, the company’s yet-to-be-released model. Everyone nodded enthusiastically and we set off to the dispatch yard, a good mile away from the HR department where the training was being held. He took us to the far end of the yard, where hundreds of brand new vehicles were lined up in the sun, and pointed to a shiny red pick-up.

I looked around me. It was a late November afternoon, and the chill had just started to seep in. The sun was halfway down the horizon, with its golden streaks playing hide and seek among the clouds. A gorgeous wind was blowing, swirling dust and leaves on the asphalt. And in the middle of the it all, a bunch of uniformed twenty-somethings stood oohing and aahing over an empty truck!

It’s not that they didn’t notice the moment. They did, but they had their priorities defined, and rightly too. Mine just happened to be different.

I wish I could say I quit the next day and followed my distant star. I didn’t. I hung around for a while, growing more messed up by the day; having a crazy time with some amazing people. Eventually when I did leave, it was without the faintest idea what to do next. Some good and some not-so-great decisions later, I’m finally in a place that feels more ‘me’.

So is this it, my perfect job? Who knows? I do know that the day I stepped in my new office and the editorial desk turned topsy-turvy because a mouse had run inside (seriously, on the first day??), I had an inkling I’d fit right in.

It’s not perfect, but it feels right.

And if I ever do become a motorcar enthusiast someday, (which is highly unlikely!!) I hope I’ll never pick it over a glorious sunset.

Hard Lessons

You taught me
To hate myself
Question my assumptions
Squander my pride
Trample my convictions
Revisit my faith.

You taught me
To trade my sheepskin
Cavort with shadows
Hiding in the wall.

You taught me
To gaze in the mirror
And find myself.

About a week ago I asked a question.

I wanted to know if men/woman thought woman are sexier on average clothed or naked.  Christopher with Long Awkward Pause decided to help me out….on my question not my clothes.  Some of my favorite bloggers are collaborating on this amazing blog and they are not only funny and NOT boring (MIke) but kind of smart sometimes so we should all listen to their perspectives.

Tell me ….them….what you think.  You can find what I think in the comments on their blog if you are curious.

Work Life

My life has been running full speed. New house. New job. After almost 3 yrs of being a full-time mommy, I’ve transitioned into a full-time working lady. Although some days I dashed to work before Zoey wakes up, I’m grateful that I’m doing what I really really LOVE. It makes all the difference in the world and sometimes even makes guilty mommy moments worth it. Not only that, I’m surrounded by the most amazing and inspiring team. How lucky am I?

I’m thrilled to share that I’m the Creative Producer for the FAB start-up company Gloss48, a members-only online beauty site that hosts flash sales of cult beauty products. Currently, the new team is working painstakingly hard to re-launch the site.

Prior to our first official work day, the G48 Chiefs welcome their new team by inviting us to a beauty inaugural party which consists of hairdos, shopping, and makeovers at The Candy Bar.    SERIOUSLY

Here’s the team getting all made up:

[Terry:  The eggs remind me of a story. My daughter was about 5 and she announced that she was going to perform an experiment to see if the Easter Bunny was real. She would dye 11 eggs and leave one white. Then the Easter Bunny-if real– would color the egg. Well, with a brand-new packet of swirl-sparkle egg color, the Easter Bunny pulled this off for two years. On the last year, the EB had been working late and ended up in a CVS at 2am. The special egg was done in fingernail polish and looked like something from the Sludge Bunny.   But we managed two years and that’s not bad.]

From Mama to Dawta and Back Around Again |Catching up with BLACK, WHITE & READ ALL OVER

Girl getting hair braided

From Mama to Dawta and Back Around Again

She sat on the floor, in between her Mama’s knees and got her hair braided.  (Such a sweet little girl.) Her Mama kept telling her “Your Daddy ain’t shyt.  He’s low down and no good.  Men in general ain’t shyt.  Don’t trust ‘em!”  She believed her.

20 years later, she sat in her girlfriend’s kitchen, getting her hair braided.  (Such a sweet young woman.)  She heard her stick girl saying “I’m done with him.  He ain’t shyt.  Men in general ain’t shyt.  Don’t trust ‘em!”  She believed her.

And now she’s a single Mom with her own daughter.

How do you think their conversation about men will go?

It is the responsibility of the men to live up to their titles of Father, Husband, Man…

It is the responsibility of the women to live up to their titles of Mother, Wife, Woman…

We live up and lead by a GOOD example for the sake of our children.

Legacy is involved here.

Looking like some kind of hypnotic, tie-died, bow tie wearing god, the Psychedelic Cat stares out of this powerful polyester sweater. We mortals are powerless to look away.

You want me to be a movie star?

This morning I got an email to be in a MOVIE. I had Stars in my Eyes! BookCoverImage

(In case there is anyone who might read this who doesn’t know, I began my career in TV as a motorcycle courier and my first novel is titled, oddly enough, “Courier” (Exhibit A Books, May 2014)

Hey Terry,
I’m doing a film that starts shooting in September. One scene has a motorcycle courier in it. It’s a speaking role. Just one line. Question is do you still have any of your gear, helmet / clothing. Any desire on your part to be a movie star???
lemme know! I’ll give you more details.

Nicole’s Future Is Waiting…

She Just Needs To Wake Up.

An Independent Film

In Production Now

Sadly, I had to respond honestly.

However, my daughters stole and wore out my leather jacket years ago and the motorcycle helmet might be in storage. Most importantly I’m twice the man I was when I was a courier–literally. Old and fat.

So much for Dreams of Celluloid Glory.

Slugging On

Side Jobs (novel)High Hopes

Well, I had high hopes for The Last American Wizard.   Alas, it’s a bomb at the box office.

Writing is like William Goldman‘s Hollywood–”Nobody Knows Anything.”   I wrote a surefire best-seller.   A mix of Jim Butcher and Tom Clancy.  Even my wife liked it.

Sales in the low dozens. Not going to make the mortgage this month

And even has put me on the wait list…no pink fuzzy mustache.

Oh well, nothing for it but to Keep Slugging.

15 more days to rewrite Warrior — the sequel to Courier, .

Let’s see, lets call it 100,000 words divided by 15 days…Hmmmm.

Well, it’s all just  one step after another.

Writing is like everything else.

I spent the day searching For a smile painted landscape | Catching up with hastywords

I spent the day searching

For a smile painted landscape

A sun for me to embrace

A moon to love my shadow

Or a man with a horse

Cursing the church bells for sport

To my devices, using side doors and stairs

I spent the night stirring and combing my hair

Random musings wrote themselves

Sprawled across old brick walls

Stepping stones lined hallways

Trapping piranha’s in molten walkways

And we waltzed Among Sirens

Flew To Pelops, killed a Cyclopse

And set quiet to a storm

We spoke of Milton: Paradiso: Divine

We forged stories upon rock walls

Using iron will and imaginations draw

We sat around campsites and firefights

Watching humanity cling to dreams at night

Like a widow to a hairdo frayed

Given the Humidity that mourning

Makes a speech about excuses

Foregoing Lucky’s Motorcade

Falling from a universe built on words

The stories unfolded naturally over time

One right after the other upon wrinkled flesh

Until the only story left was that of our demise

Rightly so, So what?

So sorely wretched

Is our starry gaze

Arrest, we all…… Lest we fall

“a full time thinker, philosopher and author about the nature of life and reality” – Welcome to a new friend: James Need

‘The Commonsense Philosopher’

Hello, my name is James, and I am a full time thinker, philosopher and author about the nature of life and reality, and who we really are.

Ever since I was a young boy I have always been deeply fascinated in wanting to understand life and who we really are at the deepest level. I have always wanted to answer the big questions and mysteries in life, and through my writing, I am very excited to share with you what I have found whilst in search for those answers.

In my blog I will cover a whole range of topics, from;
– the true nature of life…
– the true nature of who we really are and why we are here…
– the true nature of reality and how we create it…
– simple ways to raise our vibration and improve the way we feel…
– how to get into harmony with your wants and desires…
– and information and help about how to start taking control of what you create and attract into your life on a day to day basis…

My intention with my blog is to always keep my thoughts, insights and pointers to that that is beyond words, as simple and as direct to the point as possible.

I hope you enjoy following my blog :) . Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, suggestions or jus generally want a chat. You an also join my free weekly email service by clicking on the blue link below;

Love and joy to all…

‘The Commonsense Philosopher’

via About James | ‘The Commonsense Philosopher’.

Be easy on yourself…

Be easy on yourself…

You don’t need to ‘figure out’ your entire life right now…

You don’t need to ‘sort’ everything out and make decisions on how things are going to be…

You just have to relax into this moment…

You just have to let go internally…

Let go of the need to evaluate and analyse your life…

Let go of the need to judge yourself, life and others…

Just accept and surrender to this moment as it is…

No matter how much you resist it, this moment already is…

Then, as you continue to practice surrender in your daily life it will start to merge into your natural state of being, your natural state of mind, and then, you will find as Jesus beautifully described ‘‘the peace that passes all understanding’’.

You don’t need to figure anything out…

Just relax…

Just be here now…

The essence of this book is to help you understand life, reality, who you really are, and why you are here, at a much deeper level. So as a result you can start to access much higher states of mind and improve the quality of your life experience, and so you can start to become a powerful creator of your own reality. This book will really help you to see that you have grown up in a society that is profoundly disconnected from life, and it is this disconnection from life and who we really are, that is causing all problems on a collective and individual level.
This book is about helping you to find a much higher state of mind so you feel much more at home inside yourself and the world. In other words; no longer will the way you feel be dependent on other people, situations or events, and no longer will your mind be run by a false sense of self that keeps you constantly evaluating, judging, predicting and incessantly thinking about the past and future. Your mind will feel much more at peace in the present moment, you will start to access your true power and inner freedom, and you will start to become much more in control of what you create and attract into your experience.
This book is written in a very ‘hands on’ style that is very simple and direct to the point. And it not only gives people simple techniques to improve the quality of their life experience, but it also helps people to implement them into their daily life.
Once you have read this book you will have an overall understanding of the true nature of life and who you really are, and the true nature of reality and how you are creating it. You will have at your disposal a whole range of very simple techniques that will drastically improve the quality of your life experience, and that will allow you to start to blossom into a powerful creator of your own reality. Remember life is fundamentally an internal journey, not an external journey, and this book is going to point you towards that inner path…

‘The Truth about Life and Who You Really Are’ is currently available for immediate ebook download via Amazon and the ibookstore for iphones and ipads. As well as via many other ebooks outlets such as sony, barnes and noble, baker and taylor, copia, scribd, gardners, and kobo. ‘The Truth about Life and Who You Really Are’ will also available in print form within the next 6-9 months.

Books about to be launched very soon…

The following are a small range of books about to be launched very soon within the next couple of months. I am extremely excited for them as I believe they can really help people in many different areas of their life. They are very simple and very direct to the point. The titles are as follows;

‘How to get into Harmony with Your Desires’

‘Portals in Oneness’

‘Practicing Oneness’

‘The Secret is Here and Now’

‘What is Enlightenment?’

Love and joy to all…
