Welcome to my blog devoted to visual art, painting and life style.
Art has always been a big part of my existence; I have been drawing and painting for about 30 years. I am for the most part a self-taught artist, and I love exploring new techniques, materials, approaches and themes. Drawing and painting comes to me naturally as breathing, and once I had started to draw and paint when I was about 8 years old, I kept drawing and painting all my life. I relocated to Canada in 2004 and started out from scratch because I could take hardly anything with me from my native country Latvia (Europe).
My style is best described as romantically inclined realism or realistically inclined romanticism, because my paintings often are emotionally enhanced captures of my favorite objects: landscapes, still lives, florals, nature scenes.

In my opinion, art should be uplifting, poetic, thoughtful, endlessly beautiful and always taking to a higher level of human experience.
